Study Guide

Welcome!

This study guide is designed to help you grow in your relationship with God, at your own pace—one step at a time. Whether you are new to faith, have been conditioned to believe in religion and rituals more than a personal relationship with God, or you’re looking to reconnect and renew your walk with Him, this guide will walk alongside you through reflection and practical steps.

What to Expect

  • Each chapter includes a summary that provides the big picture of the corresponding book chapter, which you should read before starting the study for that chapter.

  • Key takeaways highlight important spiritual truths and lessons from the chapter, helping you focus on the most essential points to remember and apply in your daily walk with God throughout your study.

  • Reflective questions guide you to pause, think deeply, and listen attentively to what God might be speaking into your heart, helping you personalize the truths from the chapter and apply them to your own life and journey of faith.

  • Encouragement sections provide hope and reassurance, uplifting your spirit and strengthening your confidence as you navigate your spiritual growth and challenges.

  • Assignments offer practical steps and activities designed to help you actively apply the lessons you’re learning, encouraging you to take meaningful action in your daily life and deepen your relationship with God.

  • Baby Steps with Christ are small, manageable actions thoughtfully designed to help you move forward in your faith journey at your own pace, making spiritual growth feel achievable and encouraging consistent progress over time. Each of these assignments is designed to last one week, helping you develop your relationship with God daily.

How to Approach This Study

  • This guide is designed primarily for personal study and reflection—time alone with God—which is the recommended way to use it. However, it also works very well for small group discussions or studying with a partner, allowing you to share insights and grow together in community. While studying in a group can be helpful for encouragement and shared insight, it’s important not to become dependent on the group. This study is ultimately about developing your own personal relationship with God and learning to rely solely on Him for guidance and growth, not on people.

  • To get the most out of this study, it’s suggested that you first read the entire book, Dear New Believer, Love God. Then, as you work through the study guide, be sure to revisit the corresponding chapter in the book before you start each study guide chapter. This approach helps you apply the lessons to your life and deepen your personal relationship with God.

  • It’s recommended to take your time and complete one chapter per week. This pace allows the material to meaningfully resonate and gives you time to grow at a healthy pace in developing and deepening your relationship with God.

  • It is normal and expected that not all reflective questions can be answered right away. Everyone is at a different stage in their journey and relationship with God. It’s beneficial to revisit these questions regularly over time, as many answers will become clearer the more you grow. It’s recommended to repeat this process until you’re able to answer all the questions.

  • When working through the reflection questions, be honest with yourself and with God. Genuine honesty creates space for true growth and healing. This openness invites God to work in your life in meaningful ways, deepening your relationship with Him as you learn to trust and know Him more intimately.

  • Use the reflective questions as journaling prompts or discussion starters if you’re studying with others. Writing your thoughts down can help clarify what God is revealing to you and provide a personal record of your spiritual journey. When studying with others, these questions can open up meaningful conversations, encourage mutual support, and deepen your understanding through shared insights. However, it’s important to remember that while community is valuable, your spiritual growth depends on your own personal relationship with God—not on relying heavily on others. Whether alone or in community, engaging with these questions thoughtfully is meant to enrich your growth and connection with God, not with people.

  • If you feel stuck or confused, that’s okay. Spiritual growth involves ups and downs and comes with its challenges. When this happens, keep moving forward. Ask God to guide you, to provide clarity, and to give you the strength you need. Remember, God meets you exactly where you are, even in your doubts and struggles. Learn to call on Him and allow Him to lead you through every step of your journey.

  • Most importantly, remember this journey is about building a personal relationship with God—not just completing a study. While working through the material and answering questions is valuable, the true goal is to connect with God, learn to hear His voice, and slowly develop and grow your relationship with Him. All of this takes time. This is a lifelong journey that goes beyond any single study guide. Let your heart be open to what God wants to reveal to you personally, and allow His process to transform you from the inside out.
